When using the Wyoming Frontier Information (WYFI) Health Information Exchange (HIE) for telehealth, the goals are to provide immediate, real-time access to a patient’s full medical history to:

  • Improve patient safety by providing current clinical records
  • Increase efficiency by eliminating paperwork
  • Provide caregivers with clinical decision support tools for more effective care and treatment
  • Eliminate redundant or unnecessary testing

Story

Contributor Role
  • During telehealth consult, telehealthcare provider logs into their electronic health record (EHR) and reviews patient’s clinical records, including records from other WYFI contributing providers
  • Telehealthcare provider updates patient’s clinical record in their EHR, and the new information is added to the WYFI HIE
View-Only Role
  • During telehealth consult, telehealthcare provider logs into the CHR portal and reviews patient’s clinical records
  • Telehealthcare provider updates patient’s clinical record in their EHR but no information is added to the patient’s record in WYFI
